THREE DAYS LATER, THE bird returned. It landed on Yura's shoulder and dropped a seed at his feet. Yura and his wife excitedly planted it and waited. Soon a shoot grew and that shoot grew a long vine, and then many huge flowers. However, only one flower turned into a fruit.

Yura could not wait to cut open the pumpkin. When it was ready to pick, Yura and his wife brought it into their house. Yura cut it open, expecting a treasure. Instead, flames shot out of the pumpkin! The whole house caught fire and everything in it burned. Yura and his wife barely escaped. They had lost everything.

Yura was embarrassed by how greedy he was. He did not want to ask Mykhailo for help. So Yura and his wife spent their life as poor beggars. But Mykhailo and Olena lived happily every after.
